Commonwealth Women Parliamentarians Chairperson congratulates first female Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police in London, UK

The Chairperson of the Commonwealth Women Parliamentarians (CWP) Hon. Dato Dr Noraini binti Ahmad MP (Malaysia) has congratulated Ms. Cressida Dick CBE, QPM on her appointment as the new Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police in London, UK on behalf of the CWP network. During a recent working group of CWP Members which took place in the UK, CWP Members reaffirmed their commitment to the CWP’s mission of gender equality across the Commonwealth and the need for strong and effective role models for future women leaders, and for positive examples of women in public office, which extends beyond women Parliamentarians and in fact needs to come from society more broadly.

The Commonwealth Women Parliamentarians (CWP) is a network of women legislators with a structure and governance body designed to work on strategies to increase women’s participation in parliament and mainstream gender considerations in all the organisation’s activities and programmatic work, set up to work alongside the CPA.
