Commonwealth Parliamentary Association’s work continues despite the COVID-19 pandemic 

As the spread of COVID-19 increases across the Commonwealth, we wanted to reassure you that the CPA Headquarters Secretariat have already put in place measures to ensure our support to our Membership is consistent and robust during this time of uncertainty.

The CPA Headquarters Secretariat puts the safety and wellbeing of our Members, staff and resource people at the forefront of our approach. After considerable deliberation and in light of the escalation of developments surrounding the spread of the coronavirus, the CPA Headquarters Secretariat with the approval of the CPA Coordinating Committee have taken the difficult decision to postpone all international travel and the delivery of any related programmes and governance meetings. We will continue to review the situation and will make the necessary adjustments as appropriate.

Despite this, the CPA Headquarters Secretariat remains wholeheartedly committed to ensuring those pre-agreed programmes will be delivered in the future. We will also continue to keep in close contact with CPA Branches to coordinate the planning of future activities. 

We will continue to provide maximum support to our Members and partners in the weeks ahead by using alternative means to deliver on our mandate of developing, promoting and supporting Commonwealth Parliamentarians and parliamentary staff to identify benchmarks of good governance and to implement the enduring values of the Commonwealth.

Furthermore, in light of the situation and ongoing uncertainty and in line with recommendations from the World Health Organisation and local authorities, CPA staff will be working remotely until further notice.
