CPA Secretary-General visits CPA Mauritius Branch and delivers CPA Roadshow

The Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) Secretary-General, Mr Akbar Khan visited the CPA Mauritius Branch and delivered a CPA Roadshow on Parliament and the Commonwealth
to the
University of Technology Mauritius.

The visit to the University was designed to help to increase young people’s awareness of parliament and democracy. The Secretary-General met with students who also had the opportunity to ask questions.

CPA Roadshows provide an opportunity for young people to discuss issues of concern about their society and democracy, to meet local Members of Parliament and Parliamentary staff and to find out more about the work of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) and the wider Commonwealth.

The Secretary-General also had discussions with the CPA Mauritius Branch about potential areas of collaboration between the CPA and the Mauritius National Assembly and how the CPA could support the Parliament going forward.

The Commonwealth Parliamentary Association connects, develops, promotes and supports Parliamentarians and their staff to identify benchmarks of good governance and the implementation of the enduring values of the Commonwealth.
