Commonwealth Parliamentarians meet to discuss Climate Change Legislation ahead of 2015 Paris Climate Conference COP21

Ahead of the 2015 Paris Climate Conference COP21, over 30 Commonwealth Parliamentarians have gathered in London, United Kingdom for a three day Legislators Expert Workshop on Climate Change organised by the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) Secretariat in partnership with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCC) and Globe International.

Over the three days, Commonwealth Parliamentarians discussed a wide range of issues around Climate Change. The Workshop opened with speeches by Mr Joe Omorodion, Acting Secretary-General of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA); Elizabeth Maruma Mrema, Director, United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP); Marianna Balshakova, United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCC); Malini Mehra, Globe International.

Members of Parliament met with experts from the Climate Change field and also had the opportunity to tour the United Kingdom Houses of Parliament in Westminster, London.

The Commonwealth Parliamentary Association connects, develops, promotes and supports Parliamentarians and their staff to identify benchmarks of good governance and the implementation of the enduring values of the Commonwealth.
