The Executive Committee of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) Mid-Year Meetings have taken place in London, United Kingdom. The CPA Chairperson, Hon. Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury MP, Speaker of the Parliament of Bangladesh chaired the CPA Executive Committee meetings in London with the Executive Committee Members representing the nine regions of the CPA – Africa; Asia; Australia; British Islands & Mediterranean; Canada; Caribbean, Americas & Atlantic; India; Pacific; and South East Asia.

CPA collaborates with World Bank on new book exploring Benchmarking and Self-Assessment for Parliaments 

The Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) has continued its long collaboration with the World Bank Group to contribute to a new book exploring Benchmarking and Self-Assessment for Parliaments. The new book explores the work of the World Bank and other organisations, including the CPA, in developing a standards-based approach to the assessment of parliamentary effectiveness and performance involving benchmarks and assessment frameworks and builds on the work of the CPA in this area.

CPA Secretary-General attends World Bank and IMF Global Parliamentary Conference in Washington DC 

The Secretary-General of the CPA, Mr Akbar Khan has attended the 2016 Global Parliamentary Conference, organised by the World Bank Group (WBG), the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the Parliamentary Network on the World Bank and IMF in Washington DC, USA. While at the 2016 Global Parliamentary Conference, the Secretary-General also met with representatives of the Assemblé Parlementaire de la Francophonie and the National Assembly of Tonga.

The Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) has held a CPA Roadshow for young people at the National University of Modern Languages (NUML) in Islamabad, Pakistan.
