Public Accounts Committee Meeting for the Pacific Region


Date: 26-27 August 2015
Location: Wellington, New Zealand

The World Bank and CPA are assisting in the convening this meeting of Chairs of Public Accounts Committees from across the Pacific Region, with the purpose of establishing a Network where there is a means to exchange information and ideas to enable PACs to keep up-to-date with important developments, changing standards and best practices as they emerge. 

Without doubt, a Pacific Network of PACs has a lot of potential and will make a very significant contribution to the quest for value for money in public spending, effective scrutiny and oversight and enhancing the assertiveness and power of parliaments in holding government spending to account.

Asian Regional Association of Public Accounts Committees (ARAPAC) Annual Meeting

Date: 9-12 September 2015
Location: Kathmandu, Nepal

The Asian Regional Association of Public Accounts Committees (ARAPAC), in partnership with the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) and the World Bank Group is holding its Annual Accountability Conference and Association Meeting which is kindly being hosted by the Nepal PAC in Kathmandu. ARAPAC acts as a platform for knowledge exchange and peer learning on good practices in the oversight of public expenditures in the Asia region. The programme comprises both knowledge sharing activities and a strategic planning meeting for ARAPAC.



6th West Africa Association of Public Accounts Committees (WAAPAC) Annual Meeting 

Date: 28 September - 2 October 2015
Location: Lomé, Togo

The Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) in partnership with the World Bank will conduct the 6th West Africa Association of Public Accounts Committees (WAAPAC) Annual General Meeting and Conference in Lomé, Togo from 28 September to 2 October, 2015. This meeting will bring together participants from invited Commonwealth and non-Commonwealth countries in the West Africa Region with the aim of examining the role of the parliament in the budget process and the set-up and status of Public Accounts Committees. The Conference will address issues such as frameworks for effective PACs; holding the government responsible for implementation of parliamentary recommendations; and the role of PACs in overseeing extractive industries.

7th Commonwealth Youth Parliament

Date: 1-5 November 2015
Location: Darwin, Australia

An annual core programme of the CPA, the Youth Parliament rotates alphabetically through the Regions of the Commonwealth.

Participants will experience life in the parliamentary spotlight and have practical experience of the parliamentary system whilst showing how the next generation would approach parliamentary politics. Formal parliamentary practice adapted from several Commonwealth countries will be followed and the proceedings will be observed under the watchful eyes of experienced parliamentary officials.
