CPA Masterclass Videos on Remote Working for Commonwealth Parliamentarians and parliamentary staff

The confinement restrictions currently in place in countries across the world as a result of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) has not only driven many into a state of emergency but, has consequently impacted the work of hundreds of Parliaments. Almost immediately overnight, Parliaments and Legislatures within the Commonwealth have had to prioritize the health and safety of their Parliamentarians and parliamentary staff, as well as those of their communities and families by encouraging Parliamentarians and parliamentary staff to work from home. Many are still adjusting to changes to the working environment and experience challenges when conducting meetings, holding parliamentary committees and questions virtually.

Now more than ever, Parliamentarians are required to strengthen their soft skills in order to effectively continue to fulfil their parliamentary responsibilities and commitments away from the parliamentary building and its facilities.

The Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) has embarked on a partnership with experts in the field of business administration and personal development to launch a series of videos as part of a set of CPA Masterclasses on Remote Working

Produced by Kate Faragher, Chief Executive Officer of BeSpoke Skills, and Claire Farren, Chief Executive Officer of Farrens, these CPA Masterclasses provide Commonwealth Parliamentarians with guidance and recommendations on how to effectively work remotely during the current COVID-19 pandemic.

Divided into three courses: Virtual Presenting, Time Management and Questioning, Parliamentarians will not only be able to implement the knowledge shared into their current routines but, they will also have the opportunity to transfer these skills in all aspects of their work beyond these current circumstances.

  • To access these CPA Masterclasses - please contact your CPA Branch Secretary or email hq.sec@cpahq.org for access details.

Please note: It is acknowledged that information regarding the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) outbreak is rapidly changing as it reaches different stages across the world, and as a result, the guidance pertaining to social distancing differs in many countries. We strongly encourage regularly checking relevant government websites for updates.

The CPA Masterclasses reflect the unique strength of the CPA with its access to peer-to-peer learning and networking across the Commonwealth. The CPA Masterclasses strengthen parliamentary performance by taking advantage of the distinguished experience and vast knowledge of Parliamentarians and the parliamentary strengthening community to which the CPA is connected.

If you are a Member of Parliament or Parliamentary Clerk with an area of expertise and are interested in delivering a CPA Masterclass then please contact the CPA Headquarters Secretariat via hq.sec@cpahq.org.
