9th Commonwealth Youth Parliament

25 February - 1 March 2018
Jersey, Channel Islands

An annual core programme of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA), the Commonwealth Youth Parliament rotates alphabetically through the Regions of the Commonwealth. The 9th Commonwealth Youth Parliament (CYP9) will take place in Jersey, Channel Islands from 25 February to 1 March 2018

It is expected that over 50 young people from around the Commonwealth will participate as well as young Members of Parliament from Jersey and other CPA Branches. It is an opportunity for young people from the Commonwealth to experience aspects of parliamentary democracy and provides a platform for them to establish links with like-minded peers. they will also experience a 'real-life' working parliament or legislature. Formal parliamentary practice adapted from several Commonwealth countries will be followed and the proceedings will be observed under the watchful eyes of experienced parliamentary officials.

The Youth Parliament was due to be held in the British Virgin Islands in October 2017 but was cancelled due to the hurricanes which devastated the Caribbean. The Jersey branch of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association is delighted to host the ninth annual Commonwealth Youth Parliament.
