3rd Conference on AI and Disinformation: Democracy in the age of deepfakes
Conference Overview
Dates: 18 to 20 June 2024
Location: British High Commission, Singapore
The CPA Headquarters Secretariat is pleased to announce that we will be convening a Conference on AI, Disinformation and Parliament: 'Democracy in the Age of Deepfakes' at the British High Commission in Singapore from 18 to 20 June 2024.
The emergence of new technologies such as artificial intelligence and synthetic media has added a new layer of complexity to the challenge of combating disinformation. These technologies can be used to create highly realistic but entirely fabricated content, making it increasingly difficult for individuals and organisations to distinguish between truth and falsehood.
The Conference will look to raise awareness among Parliamentarians about the latest developments in artificial intelligence and synthetic media (including deepfakes), the implications of these developments for democracies and public discourse, and how Parliamentarians can work with other stakeholders to develop legislative environments and policies to ensure the integrity of digital democracies.
- This Conference will develop and build upon those conversations which took place during the CPA’s Virtual Conference on AI, Disinformation and Parliament, from 4 to 6 December 2023.
- The Conference will also explore the topics covered in the recently published Parliamentary Handbook on Disinformation, Artificial Intelligence and Synthetic Media, which delegates are encouraged to read prior to their attendance at this Conference.
