Commonwealth Women Parliamentarians Workshop 2026
Overview
- Dates: 9 to 13 November 2026
- Location: Nadi, Fiji
- Hosted by: Commonwealth Women Parliamentarians (CWP) network and the Parliament of Fiji
- CWP Workshop theme: 'Advancing Gender-Responsive Parliaments: Tools for Scrutiny, Oversight and Reform'
Effective scrutiny and oversight lie at the heart of parliamentary democracy. Across the Commonwealth, Parliamentarians play a critical role in examining legislation, interrogating public expenditure and holding governments to account for the delivery of policy outcomes.
Against this backdrop, the CWP Workshop will provide participants with practical tools and applied methodologies to strengthen gender-responsive (and broader equality-informed) scrutiny and oversight. Through peer exchange, expert input and case-based learning, participants will explore how to:
- Apply gender and equality lenses to legislative analysis
- Strengthen scrutiny of public finance and budgets
- Enhance oversight and accountability mechanisms
This programme offers a unique opportunity for participants to learn from each other through networking, and will provide valuable inter-parliamentary engagement and insight into the political landscape of Fiji, the broader Commonwealth and beyond.
