About the CWP Gender Strengthening Fund

The CWP Gender Strengthening Fund provides annual grants made available to all 180 CPA Branches and 9 Regions to advance the CWP’s mission to ‘promote the representation of women in CPA Branches and women's full and equal participation in political and parliamentary leadership at all levels.' A CPA Branch/Region can apply up to £10,000 per year in their efforts to undertake projects and activities that align to the CWP's mission.  

A total sum of £90,000 GBP is available for the Fund. 

The CWP Gender Strengthening Fund 2027 is now open for applications with a deadline of 02 November 2026.

Key modalities of the Fund

• Open call to Branches and/or Regions of the CPA to bid for projects/activities which can be aimed at regional, national, or subnational beneficiaries.
• Bids can be single year or multi-year bids (with funds allocated for a maximum of three years). 
• The Fund is capped at £10,000 per project/activity in a single year.
• Multi-year bids can be submitted with funds allocated for a maximum of three years, capped at
  £10,000 per year.
• One-third of the £90,000 of the Fund will be ring-fenced for multi-year bids. The modality of multi-year applications will be piloted for the next two funding years (2027 - 2028) to assess its effectiveness, following which it will be reviewed by the CWP International Steering Committee.
• A Selection Criteria will be applied in the assessment of funding allocation. It will be piloted for the
  next two funding years (2027 - 2028), following which it will be reviewed by the CWP International
  Steering Committee.
• A grant from the Fund can be allocated to any CPA Region and CPA Branch. When allocating funds, geographic spread will be borne in mind.

• CWP International Steering Committee Members on behalf of their respective Regions
• CPA Branches

Key dates to note

• Deadline for 2027 applications: 02 November 2026
• Utilisation of the 2026 Fund: All funds must be used between 1 January 2026 and 31 December 2026
