The Parliamentarian is the quarterly Journal of Commonwealth Parliaments published by the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association. This digital edition features news and reports from the 65th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Parliamentarians, Parliamentary Clerks and staff from nine CPA Regions and 128 CPA Branches from 43 Commonwealth countries attended the 65th CPC along with experts and academics for this unique conference and networking opportunity.

This issue of The Parliamentarian features workshops with global experts on a wide range of topics from sustainable development and accessibility to pandemic responses and gender sensitive Parliaments.

The Conference Concluding Statement for the 65th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference (CPC) contains
• the main outcomes of the conference,
• a summary of the workshop discussions, and
• the recommendations that were either endorsed or noted by the Members in attendance.

Overview

One of the largest annual gatherings of Commonwealth Parliamentarians took place at the 65th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference (CPC) hosted by the CPA Canada Region in Halifax, Canada.

The annual flagship event brought together over 500 Parliamentarians, parliamentary staff and decision makers from across the Commonwealth for this unique conference and networking opportunity.

During the 65th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference, there were a number of conferences and meetings including: 

The annual conference also held elections for the Chairperson of the CPA Executive Committee; the Chairperson of the Commonwealth Women Parliamentarians; the Chairperson of the CPA Small Branches; and the CPA Treasurer for new terms of office.

The Parliamentarian: Canada Profile

65th CPC Supplement

The 65th CPC Canada supplement to The Parliamentarian features articles by Members of Parliament from across the CPA Canada Region that examine many different areas of the political and cultural life of the country.

Contributors include the Speakers of the Canadian House of Commons and the Nova Scotia, Québec, Alberta and British Columbia Legislatures as well as Members from New Brunswick, Ontario, Manitoba and Northwest Territories.
